Thin arms, no legs
The latest version.
Spent a couple of days with my daughter making this chair. The plan was to make one like mine as I already had the pattern. But no. She really didn't like the back legs, the fat arms, the 7 thin back slats.
Apart from these minor bugs she loved the chair. It took us half a day to design the bugs out.
But the result is OK, and comfortable, though to me it still looks a little precarious.
The great thing here - and it's a shame you can't see it - is that the wood started out covered with graffiti, some scored in to a huge black depth during dull lectures. An enthusiastic Milwall fan had explored the very limits of his spelling to express undying devotion in huge letters. And suddenly the wood is breathing, the grain is clean and clear, and you can feel the timber laughing at its liberation.
Once the rain has finished all it needs is oiling and it is ready to go.
Actually it has already gone, improbably stuffed in the boot of my daughter's vast, ancient, much travelled and impressively dented car.
