Sweeping the nation slowly |
Sadly, there were no boards in the UK, or at least none of regulation size. And buying a board from the States wasn't an option. The waiting list was too long, even though the boards were to die for. And then there would have been the problem of shipping the thing.
So I made one, and this is it.
The rumour was that every Canadian home has a crokinole board, and in my imagination, Canadian families spent long winter evenings pulverising each other into crokinole oblivion.
Plus I was looking forward to joining my local league, which turned out to be on Ontario. Why hasn't crokinole swept the nation ? Who can say ? I keep hoping.
Oh, and while I think about, what's the slippiest thing after ice on wet ice ? It has to be a crokinole board. Those pieces have to fly, so you want the thing slippery. And if anyone has any suggestions for nudging my slipperiness quotient up to thermo-nuclear, all ideas wold be welcome. Well, almost all.
And if you want to see a game in progress, YouTube has a gazillion.
