Peacock
Yes, I know.
Peacocks are bright, colourful, iridescent, mercurial.
This one isn't. It's a present for my sister who is slightly crackers about peacocks. The plan was that mine would be less coppery and more peacocky. But hey, sometimes things take their own shape, and this peacock had a life of its own.
It's copper, burnished onto a mirror, and each piece individually varnished to stop any discolouring through oxidation.
The frame is my favourite bit, though. It's old mahogany benching, and the nosing was originally pur on by some carpenter with a hand held plane in maybe 1860. The wood must have come from a tree planted around 1780. Nice to give it a little new life.
Still thinking about how to do a colourful peacock......
