Perfect image

Could there be a better image of education in the UK ?

The well-intentioned draughtsperson might need to do a little primary technology to figure out how cogwheels work, but he or she came up with a cracker here.

Actually, teachers, students and parents seem to get on pretty well, but there are plenty of moving parts that seize up, including the politicians and Ofsted.

This image made me laugh in a week when Sir Michael Wilshaw, head of Ofsted, maker of sweeping statements, a man who would be out of his depth in a modest puddle, was alarmed to find teachers leaving the country rather than work in UK schools.

Poor old Sir M, whose exuberantly funded organisation has been stridently negative and critical throughout its history, seemed wondrously unaware that Ofsted might have any role at all in teachers' dissatisfaction.

Sad, really.
